Ingredients
- Whole milk - 200 ml
- Sweetened condensed milk - 100 g
- Eggs - 2 large
- Strong brewed coffee - 60 ml
- Granulated sugar - 50 g (for caramel)
- Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a small saucepan, melt the granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns a golden brown. Quickly pour the caramel into two ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, brewed coffee, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Pour the coffee mixture over the cooled caramel in the ramekins.
- Place the ramekins in a baking dish and add hot water to the dish until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins, creating a water bath.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the flans are set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan and invert onto a plate, allowing the caramel to drizzle over the top.
