  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Parsley (fresh) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet, sautéing until fragrant (about 1-2 minutes) but not browned.
  4. Add the sliced almonds to the skillet and toast them lightly for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  6. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic and almond mixture.
  7. Toss the spaghetti with the almond mixture, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  8. Stir in the chopped parsley, lemon zest, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley and almonds if desired.
