Ingredients
- Spaghetti - 160 grams
- Extra virgin olive oil - 60 ml
- Garlic - 4 cloves, thinly sliced
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the spaghetti. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes to the pan and sauté until the garlic is golden and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and drain the rest.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the pan with the garlic oil, tossing to coat. If the dish appears dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Season with salt, pepper, lemon zest, and chopped parsley. Toss again to combine.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
