- Granulated sugar - 30 grams
- Salt - 1 pinch
- Cold water - 2 tablespoons
- Almonds (finely ground) - 50 grams
- Powdered sugar - for dusting
- Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
- Egg (beaten, for egg wash) - 1 small
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cold cubed butter, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- While the dough is chilling, prepare the almond filling by mixing the finely ground almonds, remaining granulated sugar, and lemon zest in a bowl.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch).
- Transfer the rolled dough into a greased baking dish, pressing it gently into the corners.
- Spread the almond filling evenly over the surface of the dough.
- Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
