Ingredients
- Gluten-free all-purpose flour - 100 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Butter - 25 grams
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Egg - 1 large
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon (for coating)
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons (for coating)
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- In a small saucepan, combine water, butter, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Heat over medium heat until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a boil.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and add the gluten-free flour and baking powder. Stir quickly with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a dough.
- Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add the egg and mix until fully incorporated and smooth.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat, enough to submerge the churros (about 5 cm deep).
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe strips of dough into the oil, cutting them to your desired length with scissors.
- Fry the churros until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- In a shallow dish, mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon sugar until fully coated.
- Serve immediately, optionally with a side of melted chocolate for dipping.
