Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 125 grams
- Water - 150 ml
- Coconut oil - 2 tablespoons (melted)
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar (for coating) - 2 tablespoons
- Dark chocolate (vegan) - 100 grams
- Almond milk - 100 ml
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water, coconut oil, and sugar. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt until a dough forms.
- Let the dough cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- In a shallow pan, mix the sugar and cinnamon for coating the churros.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Pipe the dough into the hot oil in 10cm lengths, cutting with scissors. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove churros from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. While still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- For the chocolate sauce, melt the dark chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, then stir in the almond milk until smooth and creamy.
- Serve the churros warm with the chocolate sauce for dipping.
