- Smoked paprika - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Liquid smoke - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 150 milliliters
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- In a bowl, combine 150ml of water with the textured vegetable protein (TVP) and let it soak for about 10 minutes until it absorbs the water and expands.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the soaked TVP with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, tomato paste, soy sauce, and liquid smoke.
- Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until the TVP is evenly coated with the spices and flavors.
- Preheat your BBQ grill over medium heat.
- Form the mixture into sausage shapes or patties, about 4-5 pieces.
- Grill the chorizo on the BBQ for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are crispy and slightly charred.
- Remove from the grill and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
