Ingredients

  • Textured vegetable protein (TVP) - 100 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Smoked paprika - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Tomato paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Liquid smoke - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 150 milliliters
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine 150ml of water with the textured vegetable protein (TVP) and let it soak for about 10 minutes until it absorbs the water and expands.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the soaked TVP with olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, tomato paste, soy sauce, and liquid smoke.
  3. Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until the TVP is evenly coated with the spices and flavors.
  4. Preheat your BBQ grill over medium heat.
  5. Form the mixture into sausage shapes or patties, about 4-5 pieces.
  6. Grill the chorizo on the BBQ for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until they are crispy and slightly charred.
  7. Remove from the grill and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
