Ingredients

  • Fresh white fish (like cod or tilapia) - 200 grams, diced
  • Fresh lime juice - 60 ml
  • Fresh lemon juice - 30 ml
  • Red onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Cilantro (fresh coriander) - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Jalapeño pepper - 1, finely chopped (optional)
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Avocado - 1 small, diced (for serving)
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (optional)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the diced fish with lime juice and lemon juice. Mix well, ensuring all the fish is coated.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes, or until the fish is opaque.
  3. While the fish is marinating, prepare the other ingredients. Finely chop the red onion, dice the tomato, and chop the cilantro and jalapeño (if using).
  4. Once the fish is ready, add the chopped onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeño, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix gently to combine all ingredients.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or lime juice as needed.
  6. Serve the ceviche chilled, garnished with diced avocado and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
