Steps

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 180-200°C or 350-400°F).
  2. Peel the red onions and cut them in half from top to bottom.
  3. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, smoked paprika, sea salt, black pepper, thyme leaves, and balsamic vinegar to create a marinade.
  4. Brush the cut sides of the onions generously with the marinade.
  5. Wrap each onion half in aluminum foil, ensuring the cut side is facing up.
  6. Place the wrapped onions on the grill and cook for about 30-35 minutes, until they are tender and caramelized.
  7. Remove from the grill and let them cool slightly before unwrapping.
  8. Serve warm, drizzling any remaining marinade over the onions.
