Ingredients
- Fresh clams - 500 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Red bell pepper - 1/2, diced
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Sea salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Lemon - 1, cut into wedges
Steps
- Rinse the clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit, then soak them in salted water for about 20 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and red bell pepper, sautéing until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and smoked paprika, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the clams to the skillet, followed by a splash of water to create steam. Cover with a lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams have opened.
- Discard any clams that do not open. Season the dish with sea salt and black pepper to taste, then sprinkle with chopped parsley.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the clams.
