Ingredients

  • Fresh clams - 500 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Red bell pepper - 1/2, diced
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Sea salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Lemon - 1, cut into wedges

Steps

  1. Rinse the clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit, then soak them in salted water for about 20 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and red bell pepper, sautéing until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and smoked paprika, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the clams to the skillet, followed by a splash of water to create steam. Cover with a lid and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams have opened.
  5. Discard any clams that do not open. Season the dish with sea salt and black pepper to taste, then sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  6. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the clams.
