Ingredients
- Halal beef flank steak - 300 grams
- Fresh lime juice - 30 ml
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Garlic cloves, minced - 2
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ground black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Fresh cilantro, chopped - 15 grams
- Onion, sliced - 1 small
- Corn tortillas - 4
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, black pepper, salt, chili powder, and chopped cilantro to create a marinade.
- Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Ensure the steak is well-coated, then seal the bag or cover the dish. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (up to 8 hours for deeper flavor).
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off.
- Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from the grill and let the steak rest for 5 minutes.
- While the steak is resting, grill the sliced onion until softened and slightly charred, about 3-4 minutes.
- Slice the rested steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve with grilled onions and warm corn tortillas.
