- all-purpose flour - 50 grams
- water - 100 milliliters
- sugar - 15 grams
- olive oil - 10 milliliters
- salt - 1 pinch
- baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- vegetable oil - for frying
- powdered sugar - for dusting
Steps
- In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and quickly stir in the all-purpose flour and baking powder until a smooth dough forms.
- Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then beat in an egg until fully incorporated and smooth.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Using a spoon, drop small portions of the dough into the hot oil, frying a few at a time to avoid overcrowding.
- Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and puffed up.
- Remove the buñuelos with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving warm.
