Ingredients

  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 7 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried oregano - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  4. Mix until a rough dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and knead in the chopped parsley.
  7. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  8. Cover the loaf with a cloth and let it rise for another 20 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
  10. Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
