Ingredients

  • Ground beef (80% lean) - 300g
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Onion powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Paprika - 1/2 tsp
  • Olive oil - 1 tbsp
  • Kosher pickles - 4 slices
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Ketchup - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard - 1 tbsp

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the beef mixture into two equal patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  4. While the patties are cooking, slice the whole wheat burger buns in half and toast them lightly on a separate pan or in a toaster.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun.
  6. Top each patty with 2 slices of kosher pickles, a slice of tomato, and a leaf of lettuce.
  7. Spread 1 tablespoon of ketchup and 1/2 tablespoon of mustard on the top half of each bun, then place it on top of the assembled burger.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite side, such as sweet potato fries or a salad.
