Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Nori seaweed sheet - 1
  • All-purpose flour - 50 grams
  • Cornstarch - 30 grams
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Bread crumbs - 100 grams
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Baguette - 1 large
  • Vegan mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a blender, combine the nori, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create a seasoning mix.
  3. In a bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon of the seasoning mix with water to create a batter.
  4. Dip each tofu slice into the batter, then coat with bread crumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the breaded tofu slices for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  6. While the tofu is frying, prepare the vegan aioli by mixing vegan mayonnaise and lemon juice in a small bowl.
  7. Slice the baguette in half lengthwise and spread the vegan aioli on both sides.
  8. Once the tofu is done, place the crispy tofu slices in the baguette and garnish with fresh parsley.
