Ingredients

  • Fresh white fish fillets (such as cod or haddock) - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Gluten-free breadcrumbs - 1/2 cup
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
  • Gluten-free burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 leaves
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Tzatziki sauce or harissa (for serving) - as desired

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the fish fillets, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, beaten egg, and gluten-free breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into two patties, ensuring they are compact and hold together.
  3. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the fish patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the gluten-free buns by toasting them lightly on a dry skillet or in a toaster.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the fish patty, a slice of tomato, and a dollop of tzatziki sauce or harissa. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your Tunisian Fish Burger!
