Ingredients

  • Whole wheat pizza dough - 200 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Tomato - 2 medium, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled (optional)
  • Olives - 30 grams, sliced (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the diced red and green bell peppers to the skillet, and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are tender.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens and flavors meld.
  5. While the pepper and tomato mixture is cooking, roll out the whole wheat pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  6. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Spread the cooked taktouka mixture evenly over the pizza dough.
  8. If using, sprinkle crumbled feta cheese and sliced olives over the top.
  9. Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the pizza.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  11. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh chopped parsley before slicing and serving.
