Ingredients
- ground beef - 250 grams
- onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- puff pastry - 200 grams
- egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
- water - 50 ml
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic, ground beef, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped parsley and coriander, mixing well, and then remove from heat. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to about 0.5 cm thickness. Cut the pastry into two circles, about 20 cm in diameter.
- Place half of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry circle, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the pastry over the filling to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Transfer the patties to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve warm, ideally with a side of salad or yogurt.
