Ingredients

  • ground beef - 250 grams
  • onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • puff pastry - 200 grams
  • egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
  • water - 50 ml

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic, ground beef, cumin, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chopped parsley and coriander, mixing well, and then remove from heat. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to about 0.5 cm thickness. Cut the pastry into two circles, about 20 cm in diameter.
  6. Place half of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry circle, leaving a border around the edges.
  7. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  8. Transfer the patties to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Serve warm, ideally with a side of salad or yogurt.
