- Ground beef - 300 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cilantro - 30 grams, chopped
- Parsley - 30 grams, chopped
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Tomato paste - 2 tablespoons
- Canned tomatoes - 400 grams, crushed
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chickpeas - 200 grams, cooked
- Water - 250 milliliters
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, half of the chopped onion, half of the minced garlic, cilantro, parsley, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and form into small meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a tajine or a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining onion and garlic, sauté until soft, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for another 2 minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes and water, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the pan, cover, and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Add the cooked chickpeas and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Serve hot with bread or couscous.
