Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 400 grams
  • Merguez spice blend - 2 teaspoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Harissa paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
  • Pickles - 4 slices

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground lamb, merguez spice blend, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 5-7 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C.
  4. While the patties are cooking, in a small bowl, mix the harissa paste with mayonnaise until well blended.
  5. Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  6. Spread the harissa mayo on the bottom half of each bun, then add a lettuce leaf, the cooked burger patty, sliced tomato, red onion, and pickles.
  7. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
