Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (for dough)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix well and form into small patties.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the meat patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Knead until you have a soft dough. Cover and let it rise for about 30 minutes.
  5. Once the dough has risen, divide it into small balls and shape them into rings (like doughnuts).
  6. Heat the remaining olive oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the dough rings until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  7. Serve the Sfenj warm, topped with the meat patties, and enjoy!
