Ingredients
- Ground beef - 250 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon (for dough)
Steps
- In a bowl, mix the warm water, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix well and form into small patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the meat patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Knead until you have a soft dough. Cover and let it rise for about 30 minutes.
- Once the dough has risen, divide it into small balls and shape them into rings (like doughnuts).
- Heat the remaining olive oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the dough rings until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Serve the Sfenj warm, topped with the meat patties, and enjoy!
