- Greek yogurt - 100 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Water - 50 ml
- Olive oil - for frying
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, egg, and water until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a deep pan over medium heat for frying.
- With wet hands, take small portions of dough and shape them into rings (about 5 cm in diameter).
- Carefully place the dough rings into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the sfenj from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Drizzle honey over the warm sfenj and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Serve immediately while warm for the best taste.
