Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Ground beef - 200 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, diced
  • Green bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Water - 450 milliliters

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
  2. In a medium pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Incorporate the diced tomato, carrot, and green bell pepper into the meat mixture. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper to the pot, mixing well to combine all the flavors.
  7. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot, stirring gently to coat the rice with the spices and meat.
  8. Pour in the water, bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and has absorbed all the water.
  9. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley before serving.
