  • Sugar - 50 grams
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 100 milliliters

  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix the finely chopped pistachios, sugar, and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this for 2 more sheets, stacking them on top.
  4. Spread a thin layer of the pistachio mixture on the phyllo dough, then layer another three sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
  5. Repeat the layering process until all the pistachio mixture is used, finishing with 3 layers of phyllo dough on top, brushing the final layer with butter.
  6. Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining water, honey, and vanilla extract in a small pot. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  9. Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup evenly over the baklava. Let it cool before serving.
