Ingredients

  • Puff pastry - 200 grams
  • Medjool dates - 150 grams, pitted
  • Almonds - 50 grams, chopped
  • Walnuts - 50 grams, chopped
  • Cinnamon powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
  • Powdered sugar - for dusting

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  2. In a bowl, mash the pitted Medjool dates with a fork until smooth.
  3. Add the chopped almonds, chopped walnuts, cinnamon powder, honey, and orange blossom water to the mashed dates, and mix well until combined.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 3mm thick.
  5. Cut the puff pastry into rectangles, approximately 10cm x 15cm.
  6. Place a spoonful of the date and nut mixture in the center of each rectangle.
  7. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a pocket, sealing the edges by pressing them together with a fork.
  8. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
