Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Ground beef or lamb - 200 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Butter - 30 grams, melted
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic, ground meat, cumin, paprika, black pepper, and cook until the meat is browned and cooked through. Mix in chopped parsley. Remove from heat and let cool.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into 4 equal pieces. On a lightly oiled surface, flatten each piece into a thin round shape, about 20 cm in diameter.
- Spread a portion of the meat mixture onto one half of each round and fold over to create a half-moon shape. Pinch the edges to seal.
- In a non-stick skillet, heat the remaining olive oil and half of the melted butter over medium heat. Place the msemmen in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp.
- Remove from the skillet and brush with the remaining melted butter. Serve warm.
