Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • semolina - 50 grams
  • warm water - 150 ml
  • salt - 1 teaspoon
  • olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • unsalted butter - 1 tablespoon
  • ground almonds - 50 grams
  • honey - 1 tablespoon
  • powdered sugar - for dusting

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, semolina, and salt.
  2. Gradually add warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
  5. On a lightly oiled surface, flatten each ball with your hands until thin, about 10 inches in diameter.
  6. Mix the ground almonds with honey to create a paste.
  7. Spread a thin layer of the almond mixture on each flattened dough circle.
  8. Fold the edges of the dough to form a square, enclosing the filling.
  9. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil.
  10. Cook each msemmen for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
