Ingredients

  • Msemen dough - 2 pieces
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato sauce - 100 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, shredded
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Red onion - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Cherry tomatoes - 100 grams, halved
  • Black olives - 50 grams, pitted and sliced
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh basil - a handful, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. In a frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the sliced red onion and bell pepper until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Spread 50 grams of tomato sauce evenly on each piece of Msemen dough.
  4. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce on each Msemen.
  5. Top with the sautéed onions, bell peppers, halved cherry tomatoes, and black olives.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top and season with dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
  7. Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the assembled Msemen pizzas.
  8. Place the Msemen pizzas on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
  9. Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
