Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • semolina - 50 grams
  • warm water - 150 milliliters
  • salt - 1 teaspoon
  • olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • honey - 2 tablespoons
  • butter - 1 tablespoon
  • ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina, and salt. Gradually add the warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a clean surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Flatten each ball slightly with your hands.
  4. On a lightly greased surface, stretch each dough piece into a thin rectangle, brushing it lightly with olive oil as you stretch it out.
  5. Fold the dough in thirds (like a letter) to create layers, then roll it up into a coil. Flatten the coil slightly with your hands.
  6. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little butter. Cook each msemen for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Once cooked, remove msemen from the skillet and keep warm. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle with ground cinnamon before serving.
