Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Semolina - 50 grams
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Butter - 50 grams, melted
  • Vegetable oil - 30 ml
  • Milk - 250 ml
  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Honey - for drizzling (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, semolina, and salt. Gradually add warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it slightly.
  4. In a bowl, mix melted butter and vegetable oil. Brush each flattened dough with the mixture and stretch it out into a thin layer.
  5. Fold the edges of the stretched dough toward the center to create a square shape, then brush again with the oil mixture.
  6. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook each msemen for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. In a saucepan, heat the milk over low heat. Stir in sugar and ground cinnamon until dissolved. Keep warm.
  8. Serve the msemen hot, drizzled with honey if desired, alongside the sweetened milk for dipping.
