Ingredients

  • Lamb shoulder - 300 grams, cut into cubes
  • Dried apricots - 50 grams, chopped
  • Dried figs - 50 grams, chopped
  • Almonds - 30 grams, roughly chopped
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Fresh mint - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the lamb cubes, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the chopped dried apricots, dried figs, cinnamon, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  3. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a simmer. Cover the skillet and let it cook on low heat for about 30 minutes until the lamb is tender.
  4. After 30 minutes, stir in the honey and chopped almonds, allowing it to cook uncovered for an additional 10 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  5. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve warm, garnished with fresh mint.
