Ingredients
- Ground beef - 300 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
- Honey - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
- While the meatballs are cooking, in a separate saucepan, combine the canned diced tomatoes, honey, and lemon juice. Simmer for about 5 minutes to create a sauce.
- Once the meatballs are browned, pour the tomato sauce over them in the skillet. Cover and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with additional chopped cilantro or parsley if desired.
