Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 300 grams
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, cilantro, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter, and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
  4. While the meatballs are cooking, in a separate saucepan, combine the canned diced tomatoes, honey, and lemon juice. Simmer for about 5 minutes to create a sauce.
  5. Once the meatballs are browned, pour the tomato sauce over them in the skillet. Cover and simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.
  6. Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with additional chopped cilantro or parsley if desired.
