Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Semolina flour - for dusting

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough, divide it into two equal portions, and shape each portion into a ball.
  6. Roll each ball into a flat circle about 1 cm thick. Dust with semolina flour to prevent sticking.
  7. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each flatbread for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove from heat and cover with a clean cloth to keep warm. Serve immediately.
