Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Red bell pepper - 50 grams, diced
  • Green bell pepper - 50 grams, diced
  • Onion - 50 grams, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ground beef - 100 grams
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, salt, and water. Knead until a smooth dough forms and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the onions and garlic until translucent.
  3. Add the diced red and green bell peppers, cooking for another 5 minutes until soft.
  4. Add the ground beef, paprika, cumin, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes. Stir in chopped parsley and remove from heat.
  5. Divide the rested dough into 2 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle (about 20 cm in diameter).
  6. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Lightly brush with a little olive oil.
  7. Place one flatbread on the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly browned. Flip and add half of the beef and vegetable filling to one side of the flatbread.
  8. Fold the flatbread over the filling and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy, then remove from the pan. Repeat with the second flatbread.
  9. Serve warm, optionally drizzled with more olive oil.
