Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 300 grams
  • Merguez spice mix - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole wheat burger buns - 2
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cucumber - 1/2, grated
  • Romaine lettuce - 2 leaves, shredded
  • Tomato - 1, sliced

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, merguez spice mix, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by combining Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and grated cucumber in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  5. Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing the lamb patties on the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, and a generous dollop of the yogurt sauce. Place the top bun on each burger.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of side.
