Ingredients
- whole wheat flour - 300 grams
- warm water - 200 milliliters
- active dry yeast - 7 grams
- salt - 5 grams
- honey - 5 grams
- olive oil - 15 milliliters
- sesame seeds - 15 grams
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and honey in warm water. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Punch down the risen dough, and shape it into a round loaf. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and gently press them into the dough.
- Place the shaped loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it rest for another 20 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let cool before slicing. Serve with olive oil, fresh vegetables, or your choice of spreads.
