Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 120 ml
- Active dry yeast - 7 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 10 ml
- Sugar - 5 grams
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius (428 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a round loaf, about 2 cm thick. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Using a sharp knife, make a few shallow cuts on top of the loaf to allow it to expand while baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with olive oil, jam, or your favorite vegan spread.
