- 500g ground beef or lamb
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 whole wheat burger buns
- 1 cup mixed greens (lettuce, arugula, etc.)
- 1 medium tomato, sliced
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, cayenne pepper (if using), parsley, cilantro, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a burger patty.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C (160°F).
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the yogurt sauce by mixing the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and olive oil in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the grill or skillet.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun, adding a layer of mixed greens, tomato slices, cucumber slices, and a generous dollop of the yogurt sauce.
