Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 250 grams
  • Ground lamb - 150 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Eggs - 4 large
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, diced
  • Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground lamb, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add diced red bell pepper and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  5. Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and chili powder, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Make small wells in the sauce and crack an egg into each well. Cover the skillet and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked to your liking.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with extra parsley and cilantro if desired.
