Ingredients

  • Semolina - 100 grams
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Honey - 50 grams
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Almonds (sliced) - 30 grams
  • Orange blossom water - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the semolina and salt to the melted butter, stirring continuously until the semolina is lightly toasted and golden brown (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. In a separate pot, bring the water to a boil and then slowly add it to the toasted semolina, stirring to prevent lumps.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, and add the honey, ground cinnamon, and orange blossom water. Stir well to combine.
  5. Cook for another 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  6. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes.
  7. Spoon the halwa into serving bowls and garnish with sliced almonds.
  8. Serve warm or at room temperature.
