Ingredients
- Chickpeas (cooked) - 200 grams
- Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small (about 70 grams)
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Flour (all-purpose) - 3 tablespoons
- Water - 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil (for frying) - 120 ml
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, mash the cooked chickpeas using a fork or a potato masher until slightly chunky.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, paprika, baking powder, salt, and black pepper to the mashed chickpeas. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Gradually add the flour and water to the mixture, stirring until a thick batter forms. If necessary, adjust the consistency with more flour or water.
- Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, use a spoon to drop small portions of the batter into the pan, flattening them slightly to form fritters.
- Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove them and drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with a dipping sauce of your choice, such as tahini or yogurt sauce.
