- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 120 milliliters
- Instant yeast - 5 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 15 milliliters
- Tomato sauce - 100 grams
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded - 100 grams
- Bell pepper, diced - 50 grams
- Black olives, pitted and sliced - 30 grams
- Fresh parsley, chopped - 10 grams
- Cumin powder - 1 gram
- Paprika - 1 gram
- Vegetable oil (for frying) - 300 milliliters
Steps
- In a large bowl, mix the warm water, instant yeast, and olive oil. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing the tomato sauce, diced bell pepper, sliced olives, chopped parsley, cumin, and paprika in a bowl.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 180°C (356°F).
- Carefully place one rolled-out dough circle into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried dough and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the second portion.
- Spread the prepared filling evenly on top of each fried pizza and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Return the pizzas to the hot oil for an additional 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese, then carefully remove and drain again.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra chopped parsley if desired.
