Ingredients
- Ground beef (Halal) - 300 grams
- Fennel bulb - 1 small, finely chopped
- Orange zest - 1 teaspoon
- Orange juice - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (for cooking)
- Burger buns - 2, preferably whole grain
- Fresh arugula - 1 cup
- Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled
- Red onion - 1/4, thinly sliced
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped fennel, orange zest, orange juice, minced garlic, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
- While the burgers are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on a separate pan until golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the bottom half of each bun, topping them with fresh arugula, crumbled feta cheese, and sliced red onion.
- Finish with the top half of the bun and serve immediately with a side of your choice.
