Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
  • Almonds - 50 grams, chopped
  • Anise seeds - 1 teaspoon
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 50 ml

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, baking powder, anise seeds, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, honey, and olive oil until well-combined.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing to form a dough.
  5. Fold in the chopped almonds, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  6. If the dough is too dry, add water a little at a time until it holds together.
  7. Shape the dough into a log about 5 cm wide and place it on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven, let it cool for 10 minutes, then slice the log into 1 cm thick pieces.
  10. Return the slices to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes on each side until crisp.
  11. Allow to cool completely before serving.
