- Whole wheat flour - 200 grams
- Almonds - 50 grams, chopped
- Anise seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Egg - 1 large
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Water - 50 ml
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, baking powder, anise seeds, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the egg, honey, and olive oil until well-combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing to form a dough.
- Fold in the chopped almonds, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
- If the dough is too dry, add water a little at a time until it holds together.
- Shape the dough into a log about 5 cm wide and place it on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for 10 minutes, then slice the log into 1 cm thick pieces.
- Return the slices to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes on each side until crisp.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
