Ingredients

  • Fava beans - 200 grams (dried or 400 grams cooked)
  • Tahini - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 2-4 tablespoons (as needed)
  • Paprika - for garnish
  • Chopped parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. If using dried fava beans, soak them in water overnight, then drain and rinse. Cook the fava beans in boiling water for about 10-15 minutes until tender. If using canned, skip this step.
  2. In a food processor, combine the cooked fava beans, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, and salt.
  3. Blend the mixture until smooth, adding water a tablespoon at a time to reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika and chopped parsley for garnish.
  6. Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or crackers.
