- Basmati rice - 150 grams
- Fresh cilantro - 30 grams (chopped)
- Water - 300 milliliters
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for about 15 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the saucepan, stirring gently to coat the rice with the garlic and oil.
- Add 300 milliliters of water, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin to the saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped cilantro and lemon juice before serving.
