Ingredients

  • Basmati rice - 150 grams
  • Fresh cilantro - 30 grams (chopped)
  • Water - 300 milliliters
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves (minced)
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for about 15 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the saucepan, stirring gently to coat the rice with the garlic and oil.
  4. Add 300 milliliters of water, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin to the saucepan. Bring to a boil.
  5. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked and water is absorbed.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped cilantro and lemon juice before serving.
