Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 250 grams
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped - 30 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Lemon zest - 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Whole grain burger buns - 2
  • Tomato, sliced - 1 medium
  • Red onion, thinly sliced - 1/2 small
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Avocado, sliced - 1 small

Steps

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, chopped cilantro, minced garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have a nice brown crust.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the burger buns by toasting them lightly on a separate skillet or toaster.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the cooked patty, sliced tomato, red onion, and avocado. Top with the other half of the bun.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite side or enjoy as is.
