- Carrots - 200 grams, grated
- Chickpeas - 150 grams, cooked and mashed
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green onion - 2, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Oats - 50 grams, ground into flour
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Whole wheat burger buns - 2
- Lettuce - a few leaves
- Tomato - 1, sliced
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine the grated carrots, mashed chickpeas, cumin powder, coriander powder, paprika, minced garlic, chopped green onion, and parsley.
- Add the ground oats, salt, and pepper to the mixture and mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.
- Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- While the patties are cooking, toast the whole wheat burger buns in the remaining olive oil until lightly browned.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the carrot and cumin patty, and a slice of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Moroccan-inspired burger!
