Ingredients
- Warka pastry sheets - 4 sheets
- Ground beef - 150 grams
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon - 1/2 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Egg - 1, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the ground cumin, ground cinnamon, paprika, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Cook for another 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Lay a warka sheet on a clean surface and cut it into half. Place a tablespoon of the filling at one end of the half-sheet and fold it into a triangle, sealing the edges with a little beaten egg.
- Continue folding the triangle over the filling until you reach the other end of the sheet, sealing with more beaten egg as needed. Repeat with the remaining sheets and filling.
- In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the briouates in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the briouates and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a dipping sauce or plain.
