Ingredients
- Canned tuna - 200 grams, drained
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Phyllo pastry sheets - 6 sheets
- Butter - 50 grams, melted
- Vegetable oil - for frying
Steps
- In a pan over medium heat, add a tablespoon of melted butter and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, sautéed onion, parsley, cilantro, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are fully integrated.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean surface and brush it lightly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush again.
- Cut the layered phyllo sheets into 3 equal strips lengthwise.
- Spoon a tablespoon of the tuna mixture at one end of each strip. Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle, then continue folding the triangle along the strip until you reach the end. Seal the edge with a little melted butter.
- Repeat the process until all filling is used.
- In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the briouates in batches and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the fried briouates and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve warm.
